We filled our new whirlpool a week ago and started with chlorine disinfection. Now I have become aware of your system. Would it be possible to use Lotus Clean now despite the chlorinated whirlpool water? Or should we wait three months before changing the water and then start with Lotus Clean in fresh water?
Answer:
You can certainly combine Lotus Clean with chlorine and do not have to change the water. The water care products Lotus Clean Basic and Lotus Clean Shock can simply be added to chlorinated water.
However, if the water is more than four weeks old, we recommend changing the water. The reason: when chlorine is used, chloramines form in the water. These can be irritating to the skin and harmful to health and are also suspected of being carcinogenic. For this reason, whirlpool water that has been disinfected with chlorine should be replaced after two to three months at the latest.
Lotus Clean Shock is able to destroy chloramines. However, more Shock is required than specified in the water care instructions. In addition, you should have a measuring device with which you can measure the bound chlorine.
